LCDR M. B. HUMBER, USN
Lieutenant Commander Marcel B. Humber, U. S. Navy, the
present Executive Officer was born in Paris France, 1930.
He was graduated from the Wake Forest College in 1951
and received his commission from the Officers Candidate
School, Newport R. 1. in 1951.
Until 1957 he was assigned to VC-12 as early warning
and attack Officer for Fleet Headquarters. 1957-1959 he
was attached to the USS Piedmont as Operations Officer
and Navigator. After being ordered to the USS Benner as
Operations Officer for two years, he was transferred to
Commandant 12th. Naval District, where he served as aid
to VADM G. L. Russell and RADM E. E. Yeomans.
He wears the following campaign and service medals:
Occupation, China Service, American Defense, and the
Lieutenant Commander and Mrs. Humber, the former
Miss Ann Kimery of Clinton, North Carolina, have two
children: Robert, and Eileen, and will make their home
in San Diego.

R. L. WESSEL, USN
Commander Howard J. Ursettie, U. Navy, the present
Commanding Officer was born in Harvey, Illinois, 1922.
He attended Depauw University, and was graduated from
the U. S. Naval Academy in June 1944.
Commander Ursettiels first duty was in USS Philadelphia.
He later served as Executive Olhcer, USS LSM 370,
Executive Officer, USS Porterfield CDD-6821, and Com-
manding Officer, USS Carronade CIFS-ID. He has been
with Armed Forces Special VVeapons Project, Special
Weapfaiis Unit 1233: Staff lVIilitary Sea Transportation
Service, Pacific Area: and his most recent assignment was
Naval Operations Officer, Navy Section Military Assistance
Advisory Group, Vietnam. He wears the following campaign
and service medals z American Defense Area, European A rea,
World War II Victory, Korean Service-two stars, United
Nations Service, China Service, and Armed Forces Expedi-
Commander and Mrs. Ursettie, the former Miss ,loan
M. Remillard of lVlinneapolis, lVlinneso1a, have six chilclirn-

Captain Robert l.. Wessel, U. Navy, past Command-
ing Ollicer, was born in Fresno, California in Qlune 1919.
Ile graduated from the School of Engineering, University
of California in May 1941, entered the naval service in
November 1941 and was commissioned Ensign in luly 1942.
During VVorld VVar II, Captain VVessel served in Nfotor
Torpedo Boats in the South Pacihc and Philippine cam-
paigns from Guadalcanal to Leyte. He also participated in
the Southern France campaign with lVIotor Torpedo Boat
Squadron Fifteen. His PT commands included TTs 124,
127, 188 and MTB Squadron Eleven.
Following Worlcl VVar 11, Captain VVessel served as Ope-
rations Officer in USS N. K. Perry CDIDR-8831 : Executive
Officer, USS F. E. Evans CDD-7541 1 Navigator, USS Toledo
CCA-133D z and Operations and Executive Officer USS Roc-
hester CCA-124j. He has Commanded USS Shields since
13 September 1961.
Captains VVessel's present shore duty billet is with the
Defense Atomic Support Agency, Field Command, as Officer
in Charge, Livermore Branch Lawrence Radiation Labora-
