The Varsity Baseball Team fBe- low, first row: Coach Arvon. Row 2: Tony Gilles- pie, jeff Thomas, Chuck Gurski, Eddie Massey, Dave Hendricks, Paul Webb, David Price. Row 3: Mark Vealey, Mike Hudson, Eugene Spurlock, john Henderson, jeff Nelson, Mark Richards, David Dan- iels, Mickey Thompson, joe Perdue, Terry Smith, Tony Sykes, and Van Armstrongj, had a record of 10-7 with a six game winning streak early in the season which made the forecast look good, but only until we lost three close hard-fought games against Parkersburg, Parkersburg South, and Van. David Price, third baseman, led the team on defense with 79 put outs in 82 trys While batting an average of .355 . David Hendricks, catcher, had an outstand- ing batting average of .393 and 19 RBI's. Paul Webb, Chuck Gurski, Eddie Massey, jeff Thomas, and Mark Gillespie 's defensive play and leadership were a great asset to the ball team 's victories . When Mark Gillespie, Qrightj, was not playing ball he was on the bench keeping a close watch on the game .
