Thirty-five men, our largest squad in years, reported for fall prac- tice. Of this group twenty-four earned the coveted Captain Kenneth Lamp played a brilliant game at end during the season and his berth will be hard to fill. The backfield loses only one man, Carl Jarrell, while reserves taking the places of Donald Kuhn, Willis Elkins, and Hubert Hughey Will have to extend them- selves to equal the record of these boys, w P 4 Mi

t gaslzeflmll With the best team in years, the Sherman Tide closed its basket- ball season with seven wins. The most spectacular victoryniwas scored over the DuPont Panthers in the consolation game of the Kanawha- Boone sectional tournament. ' 'i f- 5 :Q Only Hfteen boys reported to Coach Jeffreys for a tryout at the start of the season. Of these, ten men lettered. Four players lost by graduation were: Kenneth Lamp, center and high scorer with a total of 204 points: Carl Jarrell, captain and for- ward, who scored l9l points: Frank Vest, guard: and Guy Wilson, forward. The lettermen Were: Jarrell, Lamp, Richards, Goodwin, Meadows, Vaeley, Webb, Wilson, Vest, and Banks. E
