24 ournalism Students gain first hand experience Almost any field in the world of mass media is constant- ly growing and creating new job opportunities as it ex- pands. Students taking Journalism I were given first hand experience in occupations related to newspapers, radio, magazines, and television. Journalism I teaches students the basic skills in writing effective stories and laying out a newspaper. It is the department's commitment to create an en- vironment in the school so each student may achieve mathematical literacy and may exercise, under proper guidance, the option to continue or to terminate the for- mal study of matematics. The emphasis within the math program stresses com- putational skills and the process skills required.
