Homemakers remain busy with activities Students in the three levels of homemaking gain- ed knowledge and skills relating to nutrition, food preparation, home management, clothing construc- tion and textiles. Other areas studied include hous- ing and interior design, child development, paren- ting, as well as consumer education. Home and Family Living classes were designed to help students gain a better understanding of themselves which in turn helped them to better understand others. Some units include personality and character development, values and goals, fami- ly roles, love relationships, marriage, problems in the family, parenting and consumer education. 2 ... fl L 4 1. 24 ournalism Students gain first hand experience Almost any field in the world of mass media is constant- ly growing and creating new job opportunities as it ex- pands. Students taking Journalism I were given first hand experience in occupations related to newspapers, radio, magazines, and television. Journalism I teaches students the basic skills in writing effective stories and laying out a newspaper.
