English English: Communication basis Mythology, legends of the Middle Ages, Shakespeare and poetry were all exciting subjects studied this year in the English classes. In addition to grammar and composition, several novels were read. The Scarlet Letter, Huckleberry Finn, 1984, the Red Badge of Courage and the Lord of the Flies are a few examples. Some English teachers wrote topics on the board and had their students spend 3-7 minutes writing in a journal. In some classes the students were divided up into equal groups and given a section of an island and told to decide upon the climate, animals and what provisions they could take with them. English is a required course for all students throughout their high school years, and Advanced Placement or College English are available options to Seniors. W. . Vx, . I 2 af' 4 1. Drama offers diversity The Drama Department is one of the most diverse and exciting departments in school. This is the department that prepares students to become more effective in communications. Drama students, under the leadership of Mr. Bob Watson, kept busy with their studies in acting, theater design and history, and costume design. They also participated in various dramatical produc- tions. The highlight for this years drama students was their 1982 production of the Rope Dancers. Drama 2 3 1 I if i A Nfif Qigq' 5 Departments -
