High Rollers And Low Fallers Bounce And Balance During Gym Class A hardwood floor is not the best place to lay your head especially when you are coming off the trampo- line at 400 miles per hour. But thanks to all the modern conveniences such as mats and friends around the edge of the mats, gymnastics at SHS is much safer and much more fun. The human brain is capable of many things, and an exquisite sense of balance is one of these things. Gym- nastics is one of the best ways in the world to develop that sense. After many hours of practice, a person almost becomes one with his balance beam or his trampoline. For those who have good facilities and lots of desire, the rings or uneven bars provide a greater opportunity for physical development. For budding young gymnasts at SHS, the main opportunities exist on the trampoline and the balance beam. But even Olga Korbut had to start somewhere, so Sheridan may turn out a famous gymnastic star. They found Karate offered not only self-defense, but strenuous excercise and an experience not to be found else- where.
