FTA Membership Increases Future Teachers of America, guided by the help of Miss Waisener, had an 18 member increase over last year. Speeches on becoming a teacher and college preparation were given at the monthly meetings by Miss Horn and Mrs. Raecke. The club had one bake sale and a Christmas Banquet at the Western Coffee Shop. A trip to Sheridan College was scheduled for late May on which the members viewed various functions of the college. Convention y T Mora Demple admires watches displayed by Judy Fox at Jorgenson's Jewelry. Distributive education is in its tenth year at SHS. It is a vocational educational program designed for those who are planning to enter a distributive occupation such as proprietor, manager, or employee who works in marketing or merchandising of goods and services. Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) is the only youth organization that operates in the public schools to interest young people in the careers of marketing and distribution. The annual project of the DECA Club this year was the taking over of the local Gambles store for three days in October. TOP: Brett Steel helps customers in Boyd's Supermarket. EL ALEMAN The official name of the German Club is Deutscher Verein. Its purpose is to gain knowledge of the customs and ways of life in Germany. President of the club this year is Ted Kellison. The other officers are: Barbara Lyon, Vice-President; and Karen Kegin, Secretary-Treasurer. A benefit drawing was held in December. The club gave away a gift certificate. All proceeds of bake sales and other club activities went towards a scholarship for a graduating senior who will pursue their study of the German language.
