PROPHECY Dear Classmates As most of you probably know last Monday n1ght I had the pleasure of be1ng on the program These Are Your School Days Th1s program IS planned to br1ng happ1ness and memor1es to certa1n groups of people These groups are graduat1ng classes Not classes that are graduat1ng th1s year but classes that graduated about f1fteen years ago I went to the program totally unaware of my good fortune The f1rst surpr1se of the even1ng was that I had been chosen to be on the program S1nce I had just returned from a tr1p to Europe I was not at all fam1l1ar w1th the program You can t 1mag1ne my surpr1se when the announcer 1ntroduced the Master of Ceremon1es He was Rex Ste1nkruger who was the coach and the soc1al stud1es teacher dur1ng some of my hlgh school years Before I cont1nue I had better expla1n the reason for wr1t1ng th1s letter We were very sorry that It was 1mposs1ble for some of you to attend th1s program Iam hop1ng that It was at least poss1ble for you to watch the part of the reunlon that was telev1sed But s1nce there was a party after the program where we all really got reacquamted Ithought I would wr1te and br1ng you up to date Wh1le I was recover1ng from the shock and surpr1se Mr Ste1nkruger presented the com merc1al It really wasn t a commerc1al at all It was more 11ke begg1ng people to come back to Hollywood They have all moved to a place WhlCh IS boom1ng and prospermg Shelton Nebraska Mr Ste1nkruger and I began to chat about the th1ngs that had happened f1fteen years ago at S H S and the thmgs that we had been do1ng s1nce It was so much fun remember1ng It seems that Whlle Mr Ste1nkruger was teach1ng 1n Hollywood a talent scout saw h1m And the 1nev1table happened S1nce then he has been 1n show bus1ness Then I heard a very fam1l1ar vo1ce For a m1nute I stood 1n awed s1lence Then I knew that 1t could be none other than the vo1ce of Penny Wyman I had not seen Penny 1n years and the Joy was overwhelmmg Penny told me that she IS a sc1ent1st She also sa1d that she was gett1ng ready to depart on a tr1p next week Of course Inaturally though that she was go1ng to AS13 Europe or just around the world I told her that I hoped she would enjoy herself She sa1d she was sure she would and that she could hardly wa1t to land on Mars Just then Mr Ste1nkruger lnterrupted us to tell us about the party He also Sald that we must hurry 1f we were go1ng to hear about or see the rest of our classmates Of course we were w1ll1ng to hurry Next I heard a dog barkmg and that rem1nded me of Jack Dyer I looked up and there was er1nar1an HIS explanat1on for hav1ng the an1mals w1th h1m was that some of h1s pat1ents have become terr1bly attached to h1m and he k1nd a l1kes them too Now Mr Ste1nkruger Sald that some of you were sorry but you would not be able to come Kenneth Schm1dt was one of the persons who was unable to be w1th us ton1ght Ken IS now super1ntendent of S H S He vowed he would get even Dor1ne Stenehjem St1bor was another who could not come Needless to say she IS marr1ed to D1ck They 11ve 1n Alaska Dor1ne and D1ck have a rather unusual profess1on FITSI I d better tell you that they have n1ne ch1ldren who are very essent1al to the1r bus1ness The ch1ldren make between 5000 and 10 O00 snowballs a day and Dor1ne and D1ck color them pack them 1n dry ICC and Shlp them all over the world They are used for decorat1ons and var1ous other th1ngs They had to g1V6 up the da1ry farm that they worked so hard for The ch1ldren drank up all the prof1ts And then I heard the fam1l1ar tune of the h1t song of today Of course you all know what lt s the new vers1on of the The Ballad of Davy Crockett Dav1d Palmer IS the guy re spons1ble for the success of th1s song When we were young Elv1s and Pat were the guys of our dreams When Dave appeared screams shattered the a1r It looks l1ke he IS the 1dol of the teen agers Dave IS very modest about h1s success He says he s1ngs merely for pleasure SINCE I was speak1ng of DaV1d lt seems only r1ght that I should tell you about Rodney I know that when I th1nk of one I always th1nk of the other so I am assummg that you th1nk the same way Rodney could not come that n1ght He has h1s nose Flght to the grmdstone He IS marr1ed work1ng as a gas statlon attendant and st1ll pay1ng on h1s Chevy By the way he told us that he has only two payments left and he sa1d that there 1sn t qu1te that much left of the car Delores was the next of our fr1ends that we were so glad to see Delores 1S a book keeper for EIVIS Presley She works very hard to try to f1nd ways to keep h1m out of the poor house However she draws a very good salary Cfrom the governrnentl they say that hav1ng h1m 1n the army was bad enough they d hate to have to take h1m back Not that they d1sl1ke h1m he Just creates such a sensat1on Teen agers now don t espec1ally go for h1m but person ally I th1nk Delores IS very lucky I was very surpr1sed to know that Bob Greenwalt has not had a m1l1tary career as he had once planned Bob sa1d that the army was all r1ght then he added that he knew there was an I 44 , ,, . . . .
