Seniors John DeFreezer and Donna Thomas were crowned King and Queen, respectively, for the 1957 Homecoming. The green freshmen awaited the dreaded day, September 5, with increasing anticipationg but when the day finally arrived, they found it wasn't so bad after all. As usual, everyone met at school at 7:45 to get made up. Then as the third bell rang for school, the freshmen were paraded through the study hall for everyone to see. At noon the freshmen paid the customary honor of pulling or pushing the seniors downtown in wagons. As the day wore on, the make -up became fainter and fainter. Was it the weather or a little coaxing from the eager freshmen? Every freshman showed exceptional willingness as he bravely weathered the seniors' requests during the day and the formal initiation in the evening. One of which was this little saying: We freshmen, exiles from the greasy, grimy Pits of Halto's inferno, bow down with the greatest respect for your position as seniors.
