After the initiation on September 26, the rookies felt more at ease on the new field. The twenty-four regiment members were: Melvin Billings, presidentg Walter Buckley, vice4presidentg Jack Genstcr, secretary-treasurcrg Lois Barton, Iona Billingsg Ronald Blythe: Joe Brophyg Betty Fellmang Bruce Rogersg Bertha Handg Lois Hasbrookg Ronald Humphrey: Rowland Lid- dlog Frank Lylcg John Planthaberg Barbara Prestong Esther Rayg Mary Jeanne Sullivang Norman Thompsong Bcrneice Trea- Norg Kenneth Trotter, Dora Wheelcrg Marvin Youngg and Dorothy Zack. Mr. Primo was the class advisor. The class banner, class colors fbleck and Whitey, and the class flo- wer CAmerican Beauty Bosch, were chosen soon after the class officers were elected. The Sophomore year seemed to be a fateful year for the nClass of '42n. Eleven members left the class Qdur- ing the year, leaving only thirteen. 'Two of those who left, nKcnnyn Trotter, and nbudn Lyle, joined the navy and are new stationed at Pearl Harbor, and on submarine Shortly after school and Bruce Rogers was Sullivan end Dorothy duty in the Pacific, respectively. started, class elections took place e1ectod'president, with Mary Jeanne Zack as vice-president and secretary-treasurer. The Soph- omore Class Dance was a St. Patricks Day Dance. The Junior year was a particularly busy year for the clsss. Dora Wheeler was elected president of the class early in the year, and Mary Jeanne Sullivan and Dorothy Zack were re-elected as class vice-president and secre- tary-treasurcr. Mr. Viar was class sponsor. During the entire year the class sold candy and pop at football and basketball games, and during the noon hour. ' Everyone worked diligently for the success of the class dance, which was a Homecoming dance, with Neponset students as guests. The dance, carrying out a Valentine theme, was the most successful dance sponsored by any class during that year. The Junior class play, HThe Nutt Familyu was given on November 8, The highlight of the year was the Junior-Senior Military Bell and Banquet held at Camp Coal Creek Country Club. Mr. Lester Lange, taking Mr. Viar's place as eless advisor, ably assisted the class with plans for Unxprmn. At the beginning of the senior year Lucille Treanor joined the class, making fourteen members. Miss Pauline Peterson, hnglish instructor, was the class advisor. Sen-' lor class officers were: Mary Jeanne Sullivan, president, Dorothy Zack, vice-prcsidentg Jack Genster, secretary- treasuror. The Senior Court Martial and Military Ball

The Senior trip was thoroughly enjoyed by everyoneu J The Seniors appreciated the prom given by the Jun- iors in their honorc , As the first class to graduate from the present Shef- field High School Building, durlng wartime, the class wore red and white tassels on their Royal blue caps, and Royal blue gowns, ' l94luJunlorvSenior Prom Military Ball , The Junior and Senior Prom took place May 15, 19414 The Seniors, Juniors, Faculty, and Board Members and their wives were called to report for active duty to company J-U-NFI-OuR at Camp Goal Creek. Mess was called at 6250 and served by the Congregational Guild, . , The place cards were brown pup tents with the name of the Pvt., lieutenant, etc. on them. In one corner of the room was a tent with guns standing cries-crossed in front of it. - . Jimmy Girkins Orchestra played for the ba1l,whieh in- cluded a grand march, and a blaekmout dance, Taps ended a gala evening for all. Manouvers: Army Song.
