Principal Shawnee has made tremendous growth in the two and one-half decacles of her ex- istence. This growth includes not only the physical structure and increased size of the student body, but a vast growth in com- munity service and school spirit. One has only to examine the crowded school calen- dar to know that many organizations and forces are at work to mold the life and character of our school. We are proud that so many of our graduates have trans- ferred the school spirit nurtured by edu- cational activities to an active and pro- gressive community spirit. When the rec- ord of the future is written, let it reveal the same spirit of cooperation, neighbor- liness, and helpfulness that has been so prominent in the past. We need each other. Fourteen graduated in 1926, seventy-two in 1951. Along with mere growth, the school has constantly aimed at improved quality of schooling. More emphasis is being placed upon musi , art, dramatics, pupil guidance, health, citi enship, and moral and social developme t. Our aim for the future is not bigger but better. C. G.
