5 TRACK. In the spring, an athlete has a fine opportunity to show his athletic ability as an individual. Track is a sport which enables an athlete to show how well he can perform in relation to his competitors. Only those fellows who are extremely athletic conscious usually show up for this sport. Sometimes a fellow can try his very hardest to win throughout the season and still not capture a first place in an event, but despite his inability to win, he has accomplished other more important goals--that of having done his best and that of having competed. This year's track team was all underclasmen and did a very fine job. They finished second in the Stephenson County Meet, while Gary Schneider set two new me et records in the pole vault and high hurdles. The leading ribbon winners were Gary Schneider, Arnie Ciedd, and Dan Hartman. We shall expect an even finer job from the same group of fine athletes next year. W gli., N h S' is ' v e . f if at .
