. . K It seems that the success of a Shannon High Basketball Team is regulated to the outcome of the annual F orreston battles. This year's team would have to be regarded as very successful since we were unable to beat Forreston in both games. We also were able to accomplish many other things while winning 22 and losing 8 games. We won the District Toumament, received the second place Carroll County Conference Trophy, and we placed third in the Mt. Carroll Holiday Toumament. Of the eight games we lost, five were by six or less points. Our Frosh-Soph team proved successful also in winning 18 and losing only 5. We were undefeated in the Carroll County Conference play. We lost to Lanark in the County Toumament finals by one point and had to be satisfied with the second place trophy. We also lost a 1 pointer to Pearl City. With the addition of our new gym it appears that basketball at Shannon High has taken an up swing. We can only hope that our teams continue to do as well as this year's team. This year's team can be characterized by the state- ment: They would never say die. lg. For many years, I have been associated with the game of basketball but this was a memorable one for me. By working closely with Coach Kuntzelman, I have added greatly to my knowledge of the game. I feel that the fine attitude of the boys and their outstanding perform ance is directly attributed to the fine contributions of Mr. Knutzelman. Our boys were not only as fine a team as the conference had to offer, but they conducted them- selves as gentlemen and sportsmen at all times and I am extremely proud of the fact that I was assoc- iated with these fine boys.
