Generals take aff In footbafk league ana' vaffey The Shatter Generals won both the South- ern Sequoia League and Valley Champion- ships this year, although they started the sea- son in a very disheartening way. After either losing or tying the first three, which were prac- tice games, the mighty Generals Went on a winning spree. Their first game with North High was lost 27-125 even with this score it was closer game than the score indicated. In the next game with Arvin the Generals coulcln't get started and the game ended 25-25. The Generals started their winning spree when they I played the Lemoore Tigers by stomping them 32-14. Although a little over- confident at the Garces game, they came out ahead of the Rams, 19-6. After losing to Cor- coran last year 44-6, the Generals were out for blood and lowered the Panthers by the score of 13-7. The Generals held the Wasco Tigers 7-7,as Dickie Nieto made a touchdown and loe Borjon kicked the conversion. The Shatter-Exeter game was slow, with Shatter running over Exeter 27-7. Gne of the biggest upsets of the season was the championship game played here with the over-confident Sanger Apaches. The Gen- erals froze them out 25-13. This championship team was coached by Mr. Dan Bledsoe and assistant coach, Mr. Den- nis Foreman. The mainstays of the team this year were Ioe Borjon, Ed Ellis, Richard Nieto, lim Banks, Iessie Bradford, Roger Tatum, C. L. Howell, Charles Mitchell, Hollice Crite, lim Broom, Dean Burnquist, Larry Hamilton, Dale Parnell, Mike Steele, Vaughn Taylor, and Gary Tidwell.
