I932 2 5 xv THE LAURION Honor Bright The student body presented Honor Brightv, an amusing three-act comedy, on the fourth of December. The plot was involved, dealing with the actions of an actress, a rich family and a book agent. Helen Rilcoif, as Honor Bright, gave a splendid performance as the book agent. Emil Hein, as Richard Barrington, was perfectly correct and handsome. Frances Midgley, charmingly portrayed Richard's mother. Blynn Scott and Annabell Wedge were the happily married rich aunt and uncle. Emma Schnaidt portrayed the actress and Gerald Bosserdet her lover. The servant staff was made up of Anne Richter, Catherine Carter, Pete Epp, Earl Gunther, and Allen Bartel. Lawrence Annis was another preacher and his brother, Durward Annis, was the town sheriff. Allen's portrayal of the Scotch gardener, and Pete Epp's characterization of the straight-laced butler caused a great deal of merriment. The play was directed by Martha Barnett and was a great success. The Family Upstairsw The Family Upstairs was given by the Juniors and Seniors on April eighth. It was without a doubt the snappiest comedy ever presented by the high school. All of the cast fitted their parts perfectly, from Gerald Bosserdet, the stern father, to Effie Lee Thomas, the gawky baby daugh- ter. The play deals with a mother who tries to marry her oldest daughter to a worthy person and nearly fails. Olive Sly and Pete Epp were the young sweethearts. Frances Midgley, the scheming mother, Lorena Voth, the seamstress, and Ewing Hite, as Pete's baby brother, completed the cast. Howard Weyand and Pete Koehn were the stage managers for both plays, and Lorena Voth was in charge of properties. Sarah Scott was assistant director of Honor Bright' and LaRue Livers assisted in the direction of The Family Upstairs . To Martha Barnett, director of all plays for the past two years, goes the credit of these fine productions. -..sqf 21 Ea..-

THE LAuR1oN s , ,, I9 Mountains Mountains, trees, and flowers! Just to sit and dream for hours Is heaven to me. Mountains fringed with grass, A lake as smooth as glass. All this is paradise to me. As I lie and dream Of hills, the sun, the streams, The oaks, the whispering pine trees, I see a lonely cabin, just a hut to camp in, Nestled 'neath the oak trees. A brook of murmuring water Gliding along in laughter . Singing of beauty to me. It is the song of nature in spring, It is the song of birds on wing, I dream that all nature is waiting for me. LURETTA MCFEE. Classmates Four years of laughter lightly spent, my dear. Will you be sad to find that they are gone? For then the shadows fall and tears draw near, As realization comes when work is done. Will you be sad when fancy turns to fear? For worlds to conquer never cease to be. In future years will you Wish you were here When new friends make the old ones turn and flee? HELEN R1LcoFF. 22 lg..-
