They had several programs on good looks and good grooming. At one meeting the members brought in their favorite recipes which the typing class mimeographed and they then made them up into cook books. THE FUTURE TEACHERS OF AMERICA club, under the leadership of Miss Velma Rodeter and Miss Anna Hranko, was composed of prospective members of the teaching profession. They were informed about the opportunities in the teaching field. The members helped teachers by grading papers, doing odd iobs, and doing substitute teaching when the opportunity arose. One high- light of the year was the presentation of an as- sembly program in which they portrayed the qualities of a good sport and the qualities of a poor sport at basketball games. OFFICERS, first row-W. Glasgow, J. Davis, J. Bittentgle. Second raw- R. Caldwell, R. Ramser, E. Millit. The purpose of the Hi-Y organization is to create, maintain, and extend, throughout the school and community, high standards of Chris- tian character. This year the Hi-Y sponsored the Homecom- ing and two paid assemblies. Delegates were sent to various conferences and training camps. The ioint Hi-Y and Y-Teen formal was the social highlight of the year. Among other things, the boys had movies as part of their own programs and one program was devoted to attendance at the churches of various faiths. As part of their service projects, the boys sponsored a clean-up campaign. The climax to a highly successful year was the awarding of the Hi-Y Honor Award to the club, an award given only to Hi-Y clubs throughout the state that do outstanding services to school and community aside from the usual Hi-Y accomplishments.
