Row 3: Paul Chapman, Alfredo Sabater, Rich Mesmer, Spring semester Associated Student Body council began its term on a festive note by presenting the annual Valen¬ tine ' s Dance. Decorations carried out this year’s theme, Here ' s My Heart , even to personalized souvenirs; suspense and excitement prevailed until Jerry Burnett crowned Gloria Niederhauser the 1965 Sweetheart. And they had a . . . and a . . . and even a . . Four Highlanders reported on a Seattle school after returning from a cross-state visit. These exchange stu¬ dents, selected by a student-faculty com¬ mittee, spent one week in a Seattle school while Shadle was host to students from these schools. It’s so big and there are so many people, sighed a bewildered sopho¬ more as he wandered around the halls on Sophomore Orientation Day. A yearly event sponsored by the ASB, Orientation Day acquaints new students with the various facets of Shadle school life. Students chose Gloria Neiderhauser Sweet- I he , Esquires . combined fast and slow music to set the pace at the heart for 1965. Sweetheart Swing, Here s My Heart. Small souvenir hearts for the couples and red and white streamers decorated the walls and windows. At the high point of the dance Jerry Burnett crowned Gloria Neider¬ hauser Sweetheart for 1965. CWstmaS D6mjC OfJGftS Nohdouj QoCtSOto ■ i RUBbi ... Pink and silver ornaments and a large abstract Christmas tree provided atmosphere for the Christ¬ mas Dance. The Royalmen played for the dance, Upon a Midnight Clear, ' which ushered in the holiday season for Shadlites.
