“Sometimes the halls are so lonely, but sometimes. . The hull is empty now. The thud of incessant footsteps no longer encircles me. nor do the thronging moss of fellow students further speed me on my path. All of the accumulated noise and rumblings we've come to know itre as nothing now Silence hangs heavy in this dim and lonely corridor. This hall is alone and lonely, and so am I. The hall — It is alone, but soon 1 know she is never truly lonely. Poised in anticipation she awaits the footsteps of tomorrow to echo in her dimly lighted charnborways. Perhaps it is lonely only for me. who feels my time to leave has come. It is my time to venture onward and seek my place elsewhere. As for the hall, she now is noble in her rest and patient in her contemplation of tomorrow. She does not seek to know the future, only play a part in its construction This hall may be empty, but she, forever the optimist, is never lonely. Her task awaits her on the morrow. She looks ever onward to tomorrow by Katherine Patterson 8 UBW PAC1 IU«1 torurr Mtfft -.wta f «i MM •« ! «■» MtUOtaurr (Wrr t «»l Kt. dm. MfTTUM IJ.rT W.W. «h l Ch-.,Ur.. Rif.Ml PAT. “It s nice to know your teachers really care about you. Remember the day we Aral Marled school? We were bo scared of the giant lady who was called teacher There were so many kids we didn’t know, and we thought we d be yelled at if we asked where the bathroom was Then we grew older, and school became less frightening Our teachers took on more human-like qualities It seemed as if they had changed, and we had. too. We were no longer terrified of them and we learned we could talk to them. Far many of us. there is at least one sjiecial teacher we remember. We realize that teachers really do cure about us as individuals and want us to learn. They know our capabilities and try to help tw reach our potential. Often, they teach without thanks, but they never give upon us By Andrea Blount
