Originality In Thought And Expression Valley's English Department is one in which all students may take pride. It has been one of the select few to be chosen by the National Council of Teachers of English as presenting an outstanding curriculum. The goal of this fine department, headed by Miss Mackey, is to motivate each student toward the realization of his full potential—to help him gain an insight info human behavior and experience through literature. Concentration is first brought to bear upon grammar, form, and literary technique, but soon one is past fundamentals and deeply involved in classic and modern literature, as well as in original composition. Honors classes are designed to further stimulate intellectual curiosity and to communicate ideas through exact language and creative self-expressions.
