Coordinate Valley’s Operation Mr. Davi prides himself on being a loyal Valley fan. Dieticians Daisy Davis, Lois McVea, and Frances Crisp plan daily meals. Much of Valley's landscaping is a tribute to Mr. Davis' efforts. Most students rarely think of the hard work and the amount of time that must be spent by the maintenance and cafeteria staffs in order to prepare Shades Valley for each new day. Much of the credit belongs to Mr. Jeff Davis, who insures that the rooms and equipment will be in excellent condition for student use. Planning a meal for over 1,500 people is a monumental task, but the cafeteria staff does this five days a week. Their work is consistently marked by quality, cleanliness, and efficiency. Roberta Duty and Jojcphine Sharbel check the day' receipt . 17

Modern Techniques Place Mrt. Beal catalogues a new edition to the library. With the introduction of a completely new filing system, library facilities have been tremendously improved this year. Personalized cards and a check-out machine are unique innovations, and have served to simplify cataloging and increase efficiency. Shades Valley's broad academic program necessitates a well equipped library, and with this realization, the librarians conduct a constant search for a wider range of reading and research materials. Through this endeavor. Valley's library today consists of over 24,000 volumes, a rare achievement for any high school. The world of books is truly a fascinating one—the librarians have opened this world, and have brought within every student's reach mankind's greatest literature. Newspapers provide an intereating source of reading material. The card catalogue simplifies the task of locating sources of information.
