FOREIGN LANGUAGES PU1 Intensive drilling is a necessary part in the study of any language. Twentieth century man has literally brought the world to his doorstep, only to discover lie has a communication problem. Recognizing the necessity for Americans to speak another language. The Shades Valley Language Department, under the supervision of Mrs. Maxine Snider, offers French. Spanish. German, and Latin, plus advanced placement courses in French and Latin. The fact that Valley students have done exceptionally well in placement tests and entrance exams is testimony to the superior quality of our language department. PHYSICAL EDUCATION STRESSE Shades Valley’s Physical Education Department seeks to promote interest in athletics and to raise the student’s level of physical fitness. Mountics learn the rules and drill in the basic skills of numerous activities. Girls who arc especially good in sports may apply for the Honor’s P.E. class. Others who enjoy dancing may take modern dance under the able direction of Mrs. Lutz. Intramural sports arc an important facet of both the boys’ and the girls’ programs, and students are encouraged to participate in this favorite activity.
