55:13 e :cafe n :W wfsv. , ,. - if-,.,--U.: Three years ago Shades Valley High School was a magnificent plant fresh from the hands of the architect-a plant to be developed into a center for child growth and guidance, where well-adjusted and qualified teachers could work with students as individuals, instilling in them high ideals of citizenship and character. To accomplish this a program had to be planned, personnel woven into a faculty, and a diverse group of individuals molded into a student body. This tremendous task rested on the shoulders of one man, selected because of his wide range of knowledge gained from a background of varied experiences. His father-a teacher, lecturer, author, and minister, and his mother, a teacher of languages, contributed to his early training for such a task 3 the understanding patience of his wife encouraged him in his profes- sional achievementsg his wide travels into universities and colleges over the nation gave him an insight into the best educational practices being observed, his connections in civic and social organizations gave him a broad scope of today's problems and aided in the organization of administrative dutiesg his teaching and administrative positions in different type schools provided the professional 'experience and executive ability necessary for such a mammouth undertaking. Today, this school plant, housing almost 1,200 students and 55 teachers, and boasting a program of studies and activities outstanding in the nation, is a tribute to the vision, the ideals, and unceasing efforts of Frank A. WR? 1' 1, 'A 4, wk - - ,. : 1. eg , 'N I f f Peake. The increasing enrollment, the broadening of the curriculum, and tre- mendous amount of public relations work to be done have added much to the complexities of his task, and yet he finds time to know individual stu- dents and counsel with them. In this short time he has Won a high place in the admiration of stu- dents, faculty, and patrons. His task is by no means complete, for the school has only begun to take shape, but the beginning has shown that Mr. Peake is an educator with the ability to in- spire those about him and imbue them with his own enthusiasm and ideals. For his accomplishments in devel- oping this magnificent plant into an educational institution,with a spirit, for his sincere earnestness of purpose, for his ideals and leadership and for his visions for our future-we proudly dedicate the 1952 Tower to our prin- cipal, FRANK A. PEAKE.
