River of nightmares Tom Sawyer lives again after 150 years On November 30 1984 Mark Twam s 150th birthday the seventh ninth grade students presented their version of Mr Twam s classic tale Tom Sawyer. The play was a success despite such problems as the curtain refusing to open and close properly and Amy Tucker having to hold up the props during the play. It was clear that the actors were psychecl more llke 1tl Got in the jam agalnl up for the play as they lay on the floor backstage to relax The director s enthusiasm was also evident When Mrs Tucker asked her co director Mr Moore You sure you want to do this? his reply was Lets do it and get it over.
