ore JM- en . . ABBOTT WILLIAMS: Shorty played end on the offense and halfback on the de- fence. His speed and height made him an excellent pass receiver. Although a back injury cut his season short, he was still one of the most valuable and best liked boys on the team. CHARLES HOGUE: Charly's deceptive ball handling and hard running made him a valuable cog in the backfield gears. His passing was a deciding factor in many tight squeezes. This was his last year with the squad. SAM ROMANO: Whether on offense or defence. Sam was one of Cahaba's greatest ends. His sbeady persistance, in practice and in games, earned him honorable men- tion on the all-county team. This season rounded out his fourth year of varsity ball at Cahaba. PAUL BILLINGS: Paul is one of the few football players ever to make all-state and all-county for two consecutive years. Sag, combined size, power, determina- tion, and an educated toe and turned them into Cahaba's best all time tackle. Here's luck to him at Vandy. BILLY HAYNES: Bill was one of the most outstanding members of the second string. His game action this year showed great promise. He is expected to be the main-stay of the front wall next year. DALMOUS HALTIWANGER: Dalmous is the only returning member of this years first string. He was one of the county's fleetest halfbacks. His performance at Northport will long be remembered. His experience will be a great asset to next years squad. WALTER McCULLERS: Walter returned from service to play great ball at right guard. Although this was his first year of football, it didn't take him long to build a reputation as the teams hardest fighting lineman.
