Dr William R Manning Superintendent WE Working closely with the Board of Education and members of his administrative staff, Dr. William R. Manning, who came to us from California, brings to a close the first year of his new administration for the Lansing school system. Following in the footsteps of Dr. Forrest G. Averill, who retired last year, Dr. Manning has taken over those responsibilities prescribed by law as well as those delegated to him by the Board of Education for the supervision and direction of the total program. Under Dr. Manning's supervision, his staff carries out the actions proposed by the Board, among them the construction of new educational facilities and changes in curriculum. Of primary concern to the Board and to the administration is the educational advancement of the youth of Lansing. We salute Dr. Manning's first year in the pursuit of this ideal, and we warmly commend his progressive policies. 'l5
