Sweetheatis Ball 1973 ,rat asf?-yy The Sweetheartis Ball, sponsored annually by the Sophomore Class, was held on January 27 from 8 until 12 oceloek this year. The 'I'endril, a band from Kenai, played for the dance. Une ot' the features of this yearis ball was a broom dance. ln this dance, a guy walks over to another guy that is dancing, hands him a broom, and then starts to dance with the girl that was dancing with the other guy. This was the ingenious idea of one of the chaperones, Mrs. Barbara llagron. The highlight of the evening was the time King, Brent Mahang Queen, Debbie Erchingerg Prince, Jim Martin, and Princess, Anna Porters were presented with their crowns by Cricket. and Shannon Pollard, and Dougie Fletcher, and crowned by Mr. Bill llagron. The royalty then danced to the song, Ul'd Love You to Want lllef which was also the theme of the dance.

Burner swings! I ! I! Student Council Activities Seward High School had a very active Student Council this year. After numerous money-making projects, they raised money to purchase the eight green and gold chairs that are now in the school foyer. Their main money- making project was the pop machine, filled by liill Simpson. Their first activity was the Christmas Ball that was held on December 21 in the Multi-purpose room. It was decor- ated in Christmas style, and the evening was enjoyed by all in attendance. 'LThe Tendril, a band from Kenai, played for the dance. The Councilis second activity of the year was a two-day Winter Carnival that was held in March. The winners of the various activities were as follows: Ice Cube Eating Contest-Senior boys, flievin Dunham, Kenny Blatchford, and Mike Jonesj. Tug of War-Sophomore Class. Cross-Country Ski Race-Joe Gutierrez. Balloon Stomp-Betty l-latch. Human Dog Sled Racef Freshman Class. Snowshoe Race-David Nelson. Piggy-Back Race-Bernie Fillingim and Tony Cordova. Do-nut holes and hot chocolate were sold during the activities. Susie takes offlllll .rr 'i .... --a' l Mary Murray in actionlllllll Kenny, don't just look at it. eat it! Rosa and Ann shout the Sophomore Class to victory in the Tug-of-War contest.
