Home Economics Department Cooking, sewing and other duties of a good homemaker are necessary for creation of satisfactory future homes by Sewanhaka girls. The Home Economics Department with courses in domestic sub- jects is providing for the mature and practical needs of the future homemaker. ROW 'I, left to rightfseated, M. L. The Health Department staff is responsible for the physical wel- fare of the Sevvanhaka student body. Periodic inspections of eyes and ears, as vvell as dental and physical examinations are of prime importance to this department. Left to Right - Mrs. Sedat, Mrs. Whidden, Mrs. Levy. Special Education Individual students have individual needs. Planning tor college, caree-r placement, program scheduling and other services are available to every stu- dent. These services enable the school to possess a laison vvith the aspirations of its potential graduates. Science Department By the utilization ot laboratory tech- niques and classroom demonstrations, the Science Department endeavors to provide scientihc material tor the student. This, along with textbook instructions, are the methods that the department employs to teach physical and biological concepts and permits the Sevvanhalcan to discover the uncomplicated mysteries ot pure science.

Music Music is the universal language which is understood by all peoples of the world. It is, therefore, the purpose of our Music Department to convey to the Sevvanha- kan beauty and the necessity of grasping the concepts of this sphere of culture. lts program is extremely varied and encompasses the tastes of both ardent music lovers and satisfied listeners. SEATED, Mr. Hill, STANDING, Mr. Sherman, Mr. Wood. lg L, K4 ., Art The medium of art is an immense and varied craft. The Art Department is entrusted with the duty of instilling an appreciation of altruistic values into the mind of the Sevvanhakan. The department staff seeks to teach the student the fundamentals of color, line and space and to interpret the emotions they portray. Mr. Cuffaro, Miss Kruger, Mrs. Backiel, Mr. Maver. Transportation Department Although extensive educational facilities are present at Sevvanhaka High School, the student must be on the scene to partake of them. This is the task of the Transportation Department. The depart- ment provides the means to transfer those students needing transportation to and from school. Co- ordination and regulation of bus schedules is of prime importance to this group. Thor Sandgren
