Library Language Department Reading is a wide-spread source for elementary and advanced procurement of knowledge, as well as for ex- treme enioyment. An extensive library is an asset to a school, and its control, expansion and foundation rest on the foresight and intelligence of the members of its staff. Recent advances in communication and transporta- tion, which have brought the peoples of the world into a more integral relationship, have placed a premium upon the mastering of a foreign language. The Lan- guage Department has made it possible to learn Latin, German, French and Spanish. For the understanding and appreciation of a foreign culture, language study is encouraged and is frequently included as a prereq- uisite for college. SITTING: Mrs. Z. Business Education A district course designed to instruct future secre- taries, retailers and those commercially minded girls who wish to enter the world of business is a service of the Business Education Department. The department staff stresses admirable traits and diligent work habits as its goals. Radio Radio announcing, direction, production and pro- gram arrangement are only a limited number oi tea- tures ottered through the auspices ot the Radio Depart- ment which includes teachers, members of the PA. Planning tor college, caree-r placement, program scheduling and other services are available to every stu- dent. These services enable the school to possess a laison vvith the aspirations of its potential graduates. Science Department By the utilization ot laboratory tech- niques and classroom demonstrations, the Science Department endeavors to provide scientihc material tor the student. This, along with textbook instructions, are the methods that the department employs to teach physical and biological concepts and permits the Sevvanhalcan to discover the uncomplicated mysteries ot pure science.
