Music Aiming to develop a lasting apprecia- tion of music in all interested students, our Music Department provides a wide program of music education. Courses in instrumental and vocal music are the means through which the department attains this goal. Application of a student's knowledge in music is provided through participation in such organizations as the Choir, Band and Orchestra. Art The Art Department ofters courses that enable the student to develop a better ap- preciation of art. Students may take courses in design, fashion illustration, drawing, and ceramics. Field trips are taken to the various art museums, and outdoor classes are held for sketching. Each month, approximately forty new books are received and put on SHS shelves. A trained library stat? gives added aid to students in finding necessary ma- terials.

BOYS' PHYSICAL EDUCATION, Loft to right: Mr. Dave Askinasi, Mrs. Florence Peterson, Mr. Alfred Kumerow, Mr. Wil- liam Ritch, Mr. James Fraley, Mr. Larry Resnick, Mr. Edward Carter, Mr. Corl Falkiner. Boys' Physical Education Primarily concerned with developing and maintaining healthy bodies, the Boys' Physical Education Department supervises all team and in- tramural activities as well as regular gym classes. With gym again being taken by Junior boys, all Sewahakans now receive valuable training and in- struction in physical fitness and basic physical skills. Also provided are Driver Education courses which teach the techniques and attitudes neces- sary for safe driving, and Health classes which help develop correct health habits. GIRLS' PHYSICAL EDUCATION, Lett to right: Miss Dorothy Rehill, Patricia Culp, Miss Virginia Gill, Miss Emily Smith. E. -a Girls' Physical Education Enabling the girls of Sewanhaka to have the best in mental, spiritual, social, and physical growth is the goal of the Girls' Physical Education Department. G.A.A. and Girls' Leader Corps aid the girls in obtaining this obiective. ln the Gym classes, each girl has a chance to take part in actual play. Hockey, bowling, archery, and horseback riding are ottered as intramural sports. Miss

Guidance The Guidance Services which provide a trained, experienced director and stat? are interested in the student as an individual. This division helps the student to become a more efiective person. Health The main obiective of our department is to determine the health status of the stu- dents by annual medical and dental examina- tions. We then suggest any corrective measures necessary. Besides keeping accur- ate records of pupils' physical conditions and rendering first aid in school, we make neces- sary recommendations concerning the health aspects of the school plant and the hygiene of instruction.
