whute Luttle wonder undeed he was happy and gay For cookung hus meals we found Dortha Faye A governor s chaur next came unto vuew And seated thereun I saw Mary Lou A great hosputal coverung block after block Was owned and managed by Bullue Jo Brock And .losephune Davus a nurse of great fame Was soothung the patuents and allevuatung paun Betty Sue Henderson and Norma Jean Lowe Were now un New York openung a show Some kund of Follues I read on the screen There were many many faces I had already seen Bully Herndon was doung hus dance And Betty Jo Maples I saw at a glance Wuth Bonnue Underwood and Louuse Mannung And Johnme Mae Gubsan and Paul S Lannung Barbara Ann .lenkuns was crossung the foam In a foreugn land she would make her home Bllly Wynn Allen and Anna Auth Parton Were Johnme Watson was stull walkung the floor lThus tume carryung number four Bruce Montgomery so handsome and able Was un Hollywood now replacung Clark Gable Theodore Benson and Thurman Chears Were both famous hunters lookung for dears .lohnnv Smelcer and Ronald Randles Luke Bemamun Franklun were mouldung candles Donald Whaley a carpenter of skull Was buuldung a house on a very hugh hull Chandler Kulby and Bully Kulluan Were great landlords each worth a mulluon Anne Thompson whom all of us love Was now employed un realms above Wuth her sunny smule and her gracuous way She was hostess now on a Hustory Nates 19481949 Late un the year 1948 we the class af 52 enrolled as freshmen at Sevuer County Hugh School At furst we were a bewuldered and confused luttle group raamung through an unvuncuble wulderness of halls classrooms and strange folk who we thought sneered at us because we were just green freshmen But as tume passed by we began to settle down and fall unto the swung of thungs After a few weeks we became acquaunted wuth our classmates and realuzung that all green thungs grow we began to form on organuzatuon to carry on and ta plan our future actuvutues Our furst class offucers were Kent Thomas presudent Buddy Jenkuns vuce presudent Sue Henderson secretary and treasurer and Arun Emert reporter Mass Kate Frank lun and Mr W S Coe were our sponsors ln a very short tume our class was represented un some of the major actuvutues of the school A number of our boys made the football team Jack M Hardun Harry Patty Chandler Kulby George Seaton Mayford Galyon Charlue Watson and Sam Henry On the basketball team were Earl Lawson and Ace Brewer A few of our number jouned the band Prancung along un front as majarettes were Mary Lee Thomas and Betty K Shanton Jack M Hardun and Betty K Shanton were elected Mr and Muss Freshmen Before we could hardly realuze our vacatuan was so near funal exams stared us un the face After thus we were na longer freshmen 1949 1950 Our vacatuon came suddenly to an end un late Au gust and back to school we went Thus tume we were the all wuse sophomores who enjoyed the uncomung freshmen wuth as much real pleasure as one superuor group could enjoy over an unferuar one As class affucers we elected Kent Thomas presudent Bull Broady vuce presudent Trula McMahon secretary Margaret Ogle treasurer and Savanna Clunton reporter Our sponsors were Mrs Roy Marshall and Mr J A Worth Agaun we were represented on the football team Thus tume our class gave Harry Patty Jack M Hardun Bull Broady Charles Watson Benton Reagan Earl Lawson Bruce Montgomery and Mayford Galyon On Basketball teams were Captaun Earl Lawson Howard Sutton Dortha Faye Brown and Betty K Shanton Mary Lou Headruck and Buddy Jenkuns were chosen as kung and queen of the class Dortha Faye Brown Jack M Hardun Evelyn Brown and Kent Thomas were at tendants Earl Lawson and Margaret Ogle were elected Mr and Muss Sophomore Many of us were un the Glee Club FFA FHA Beta Club S Club and band Near the end of the year our class enjoyed a pucnuc at Douglas Lake Alas' all the merrnment couldnt last forever We found funal exams boldly starung at us agaun thus tume darung us to become junuors 19501951 Thus year we were the jolly junuors dazzled and over come by our advanced pasutlan We elected Bull Broady presudent Sam Henry vuce presudent Trula McMahon secretary Ann Emert treasurer and Anne Thompson re porter Our sponsors were Mrs Doss Muss Johnson and Mr John Murray ln the sprung we gave a play House for Sale Haunted Those makung up the cast were Betty K Shanton Trula McMahon Jack M Hardun Earl Lawson Harry Patty Bruce Montgomery Bon Whaley Anna Lau Henderson Savanna Clunton Dortha Faye Brown Phyl lus Thomas Charlue Watson Sue Henderson and May ford Galyon Thus play proved to be a great success lt us one we shall never forget Durung thus year more and more actuve became our class We were represented un football basketball base ball band operetta and a large space un the yearbook was occupued by us The hughlught of the year toward whuch we all looked wuth great enthusuasm was the Junuor Senuor Ban quet whuch was held un the banquet room of the S St W Cafeterua un Knoxvulle We shall always remember thus occasuon for ta us the enture roam wuth uts beautuful decoratuons the gurls un colorful evenung gowns and the boys un theur best suuts was an awe unspurung sught and one of the mulestones un our school luves Soon after thus gala event came commencement when we must say goodbye to our fruends the senuors and wuth half hearted jay we began our summer vacatuon 1951 1952 Tume marches an Thus us our last year and one we shall remember forever Class offucers are Bull Broady presudent Charles Watson vuce presudent Trula Mc Mahan secretary and Chandler Kulby Bruce Montgomery Charles Shular Bob McCarter Donald Whaley Ronald Randles and Rex Delazuer Rootung for the team were Savanna Clunton and Anna Lou Henderson as cheerleaders On the gurls basketball team are Betty K Shanton, Savanna Clunton Trula McMahon Dortha Faye Brown Mary Harrus On the boys team are Earl Lawson Bull Braady Ace Brewer Joe Love Shurley Henry and Paul Lannung Our furst play of the year was Our Hearts Were Young and Gay durected by Mrs Rhea McCall The cast consusted of Bull Kulluan Bruce Montgomery Thurman Chears Betty K Shanton Mary Lee Thomas Sue Hen derson Bull Broady Buddy Jenkuns Norma Jean Lowe Anne Thompson Dortha Fay Brown Jack M Hardun, Sam Henry Mary Lou Headruck Mayford Galyon Ann Emert and Eluzabeth Kulby Thus was a hularuous play enjoyed by a full house An other of our actuvutues has been work on the 1952 Se vneruan We have had a staff of twenty senuors who have worked long and late far the completung of our annual Three major events are yet ahead' Our next senuar play A Lucky Penny to be durected by Mrs Roy Mar shall a banquet whuch the junuors are plannung at Whut tle Sprungs Hotel and our trup to Washungton whuch we wull make un Aprul All of thus just seems to be more than we can take No wonder we luve un a state of ecstasy wuth such antucupatuon But too soon wull come the last partung when we receuve our duplomas and say
