student council completes a high y the student council at severna park high school strives to develop responsible citizenship among students and to promote a constructive relationship between the faculty and student body. this organization allows students to participate in the school government and it encourages school spirit with worthwhile activities. through elected representatives, the student body is kept informed on matters varying from plans for falcon fair to proposed changes in the ever controversial dress code. among some of the activities student council sponsored this year were orientation, burmuda day, pretzel day, the senior slumber party and the thanksgiving food drive. officers are gene munger, presidentg ronnie pramshufer, vice-presidentg june jeffcoat, secretaryg and chris meyers, treasurer. mr. thomas shipley is the advisor.

successful thanksgiving food drive the thanksgiving food drive was the student council's community project. during the weeks of november 18, students were encouraged to bring in canned goods of all varieties and the freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors competed to see which class could bring in the most. the overall school average was l38'Z: which was equivalent to each student bringing in two cans. the seniors won the class competition. there was also an assembly at which a speaker came to inform the students of the poverty in anne arundel county and the many families who would ordinarily have no thanksgiving dinner without the help of severna park students, all in all, the food drive was a well conducted and highly successful campaign. 197 ,,,
