french Club is newly this year severna park high school once again has a french club. it was organized in october 1968 and has proven to be quite successful with its activities including a series of one act plays which were presented to the french ii classes at severna park junior high school in january, printing a monthly french newspaper, and participating in falcon fair. the club also made a trip to a french restaurant in washington, d.c. mrs. helen hammer- strom is the advisor. the officers are pictured at right a.nd include ann Campbell, presidentg bonnie duvall, vice-presidentg and carol macauley, secretary. formed latin club studies rome and greece the clava latina is the school's classical organization. it was estab- lished by the students wishing to increase their knowledge of ancient civilizations, especially rome and greece. papers pertaining to classical themes are presented at the meetings, which according to the clubis con- stitution, are held bi-weekly. the club presents awards at the end of the school year to the students with the highest averages in latin i and latin the club went on field trips through- out the year to nearby spots which display classical architecture or con- tain information pertaining to rome and greece. mr. joseph kearney is the club advisor. the officers are seated in the front row and include debbie dickey, presidentg cheryl walh-ing, vice-presidentg karen kalb Cnot presentjg and kathy hurley, secretary.

social science holds mock election the social science club is designed to culturally benefit its members and offer them opportunities for experience in the fields of the humanities and government. in collaboration with the social studies department, the club held a mock election to determine the presidential favorite of the student body. they also made trips to the national gallery of art and the state department, and they held bake sales. mr. arthur tassey is the advisor to the club. the officers are at right and include bruce hasfirther, president, david riegal, vice-president, karen muhl, secretary, and debbie hollis, treas- urer.

spanish club goes to Wash. ld. C. holds a christmas pinata party 2lI1 the spanish club consists of second, third, and fourth year spanish students. this year the club went on their annual trip to washington, d.c., where they visited the pan american union and the national gallery of art. the pinata party, held on december 13, featured a papier mache pifrata in the form of a donkey which was attacked enthusiastically for the candy inside. a special treat for the club was to have two boys from mexico, oscar and javier casillas, Visit our school for nearly two months. mrs. josephine snellings is the club advisor. at right are the officers standing in front of the pan american union. they are julie lieb, president, laurie martin, vice-presidentg mary kay dent, secretary, and joyce wimmer, treasurer. below is richard baginski working on the christmas piiiata. .f Q , , l Q ik '
