IRGTC . . . ot just a Course The Naval junior Reserve Officer Training Corps, first offered at Seneca in 1982, teaches students some of the skills they need to become military offi- cers, such as marching, following direct commands, and drilling with Spring- field rifles. ' The Color Guard performs at all home football and basketball games during the year. The Drill Team per- forms at several drill meets a year, the biggest taking place at Norfolk. Also this year, there was a Seneca Valley Invi- tational Drill Meet where our school was the overall winner. Naval Science Instructor Commander Wiest and Assistant Instructor Mr. Hutchinson gladly announced that stu- dents have had success with the course. For instance, IEns.JBrian Rowland has been offered an Army.ROTC scholor- ship at Penn. State U. ILt.Cdr.J Wallace Banach and IEns.I M. Peachek have been nominated to the U.S. Naval Academy. And also, ILt.J P. Dlllon and IEns.l R. Green attended the Leadership Academy.
