The Class of 49 started out one September morning as typical Green Frosh. They survived the onslaught, however. The Sophomore year saw this same group re- turn ready for another great year. They displayed their talent by putting on a terrific Sophomore assembly. Anyone who wished to forget the athlet- ic prowess of the 49ers had to think again as the Sophomores placed stars in all fields and topped it off by winning the lnter-class track meet. They were hitting the top in scholarship also. Nineteen Forty Eight saw a junior class flare into action. After receiving their shiny new rings, they then proceeded to bring a touch of Ole Erin by presenting the Junior Play, Kitty Foyle. W'ith one hit to their credit they put on their second hit the assembly. The junior-Senior banquet was given in the Hotel Fresno and was enjoyed by all who were present. The forty-niners rolled up their sleeves and gave the Freshmen a proper initiation. The senior assembly hit with a bang as they featured the glory of the old West. On February 22, the Seniors loaded their to- boggans and headed for Big Stump on their annual snow party. In May a cloud of mystery hung over Selma as the Senior Play, The Leavenworth Case, was presented. The next big event was the junior-Senior banquet. Now with their diplomas in their hands, these 49ers', backed with four years of outstanding leadership in all sports, scholarship, and in all activities, leave Selma High to go on to new frontiers.
