JUNIOR CLASS HISTORY The present Junlor Class of 1951 entered the great portals of educatlon at S R H S 1n the fall of l9h8 The roll call was an swered by 'e1ght green ch cken hearted freshmen,' as we were lov ingly nicknamed by the Senlors on Inltiatlon Day They were La vern Bollig, Albert Goscha, Leona Koerperlch, V1rg1l Koerperlch, V1rg1l Rogers Jr , June Belle SITOHSOD, and Vlrgll Warren Later we picked up Clarence Knopp In a whlle Norr1s Slaven moved from the Leov1l1e school to our school The officers were June Belle Slmonson Presldent, Leona Koerperich V1ce president Our sponsor was Mr Yeoman This was the year that a shadow was cast over the school three weeks before the close oi the school term, by the passlng of Mr Yeoman H183 M1lstead then became our sponsor V1rg1l Koerper1ch's deslre for higher educatlon subs1ded for a tlme, so he parted company w1th his class, after s1x weeks of school Perhaps tne Wdropplng outn fever spread to V1rg1l Warren, as he soon was among the mlSS1ng from our class V1rg1l Rogers locations w1th h1s educatlon He moved to Seattle, Washington and stlll 18 persulng the great art of knowledge The remalnlng boys 1n our class, and other boys from S R H S, had the honor of attendlng the Kay's meet1ng w1th Mr Yeoman at Concord1a, Kansas, ln November 19h8 Perhaps the 'bllzzardu n whlch they were caught on thelr return tr1p w1ll be remembered longer than the Kay's meetlng Wh1Ch they attended Much h1lar1ty and fun was had by the class on stunt nlght , in the sprlng of l9b9 Thus ends the trials and errors of the l9h8 and 19h9 fresh men class Armed with a little more courage thls year, four silly sopho mores stepped through the gates once more into S R H S They were Albert Goscha, Delores Korte, Leona Koerperich and June Simonson We were happy that Delores Korte found her way from Rexford school to our great S R H S The bright city lights of Denver called Norris Slaven from our midst Lavern Bollig, having a great desire for all kinds f nParks', went to attend school in Park, Kansas, so we missed him in our sophomore year Officers this year were: Leona Koerperich President, June Simonson-Vice president, Albert Goscha-Secretary, and Delores Korte Treasurer and Reporter Our sponsor was Miss Bolton Albert, with other boys of S R H S attended the Tournament at Denver, which was an award Things moved pretty smooth and we were a happy bunch serving at the JunioreSenior Banquet on April 29, 1950 Again we enjoyed taklng part in the 'stunt n1ght' S the curtaln falls on four smart sophomores of 1950 had a little different Nattackn of this nfeverng. he just changed 0 0 . 1 O i ' I I!
