ofZ4e6!444a,!l955 Here I srt lookrng Into the crystal ball to see what I can about my classmates Its been twenty years srnce we recexved our drplomas and went out our separate ways Here IS what I see and prophesy Srtnng rn my home overlookmg the beauuful Pac1f1c Ocean after my son s graduauon, I close my eyes and prcture each of my classmates as they were rn 1955 Suddenly I become very curlous to know what has become of my old pals Immedxately I decrde to make a vaca tron tnp back to Serbert My new Lrncoln rs packed and I m ready for my Joumey Travehng along the beautlful Cahfornra hrghway and enjoymg myself anxrous to meet w1th my class mates I almost mrss one of the nrcest homes I have ever seen Slowrng down to get a better look at rt I see a beautlful woman dressed rn srmple garden clothes workrng wrth the rose bushes I stop to pass a few words wrth the young lady when I recognrze somethlng fam1l1ar about her I :ecogmze her to be my dearest fnend Arhss Blackwell Arlrss had gone after graduauon to Chrcago where she had made her fortune sellrng penctls on the street comer She was now re trred to tlus small palace along the hrghway I told Arlrss of my plans and persuaded her to come along wrth me Back to the hrghway we soon reach a large crty Hollywood As we are travelrng through we notrce a great crowd gathenng rn front of the brg theatre We stop to see what the brg attractron rs As we near the theatre a Cadrllac pulls to the curb and a beauufully dressed lady steps out She rs short and very cute As she walks toward us I nonce her walk It bnngs back memones of a classmate who lrved south of town, but rt couldn t be she hadn t planned to become an actress but It 18 Margaret Weaver After seerng the show Margaret tells us how she happened to become. an actress She had gone to a party one nrght and had so much fun that she had become the toast of the party One of the guests rnvrted her to vrsrt the studros as lus guest Tlus was her begmnmg Today she has reached the top We convmced her to leave wrth us the followmg mormng On toward Serbert we Journeyed We are crossrng the desert when we see a burro and a tramp lookmg man He rs tall, thrn and somewhat stoop ed as rf weary or lookmg for somethrng I stopped the car to watch h1m a moment he looks at the car and laughs talkmg to hrs burro Hrs vorce sounds famrlrar Hrs nose and face are sharp featured It rs none other than D1ck Herman Drck tells us that There s gold rn them that hrlls It wasn t hard to pursuade hrm to come along wrth us as he sard Amt found rt yet so I ll wart At the edge of the desert we enter a small town where we gas up Whrle wartrng we get out to stretch and get some refreshments Walkrng a few doors from the statron to a small cafe we almost bump 1nto two young scamps They are the most rdentlcal tw1ns I have ever seen Behlnd them IS the mother who seems to be havrng qurte a trme tryrng to manage a cocker spamel on a leash two large packages and the small boys Drck decrdes he should assrst the poor lady Takrng off hrs hat Drck says km I help you ma am? When she turns and smrles I recogmze her at once as MarJor1e Smlth We are surpnsed to frnd one of our class mates rn such a small town Maryone tells us she rs mamed to a goat farmer they are dorng very well Marjone persuades her husband to keep the twms wh1le she comes along wrth us to Serbert Toward mghtfall we enter a large c1ty and see posters announcrng a Brg Crrcus 1n town We decrde o enjoy ourselves and go to see the show Dunng the anlmal act one of the hons begms to act up and the trarner 15 havmg hrs hands full After a t1me the trarner separates the hon from the rest An announcement rs made Is there a vetennary ln the house? A man comes up from the crowd bag in hand glasses on hrs nose and long grey harr I-le walks rnto the nng to the hon and begrns extractrng the hon s tooth He passes the tooth for the crowd to see and says Shucks The Iron tamer shakes hrs hand and suddenly they begrn slappmg each other on the back as rf they were old buddres Then we too recogmze them and yell Serbert Both men look up at us and smrle as they walk towards us Yep they were none other than Doyle Fulton and Warren Gollrher They too are talked rnto comrng wlth us Next momrng we are off agam and by noon are more than half through our joumey when the car begms to act up Lucky for us we are at the edge of a small crty On a brllboard we see advemzed Hartley s Super duper Sports cars I call up the place to see rf he can frx my Lmcoln The man dnves up w1th the tow truck and takes us to the garage where we meet the owner You guessed rt, none other than gnnmng Ronnre Hartley, who srnce graduanon has become a speed demon 1 1 . - . .
