Watson .0 Sailors onboard SEATTLE have many jobs to do. Each division is responsible for maintaining their spaces and work centers, including Third Division. One of the most important jobs for Third Division is the preservation and painting of the sides of the ship. The sides are important because they are the first thing any ship sees when pulling alongside, and lasts for- ever. Another task of Third Division is being in charge of th e pi1ot's ladder, which allows pilots to come aboard and depart the ship. CREW 9iiP'1li:'l '- rnfllu xt t in anti. T he Palm Locker contains supplies that are issued to other divisions for preservation and upkeep of their SPQCFS' The Grease Locker contains various lubricantS Whlch are instrumental to the PMS of mechanical equipment' The Forward Bos'n locker is essential for the issuing tools and foul weather gear. The Canvas 511019 lsal Lockerl does the tailoring of uniforms, quaffefdfick awnings and many other fabrics used in the protect10U of equipment from foul weather. B Storeroom is fe' sponsible for issuing of cleaning gear to entire ship- The First Lieutenant's Storeroom is essential for underway replenishment. It contains all the fittings and must have items for underway replenishments that are needed fo keep all thirteen rigs flying smoothly. RASE means Replenishment At Sea Equip- ment but this division is much more than that. RASE division consists of Boatswain Mates, Electrician Mates, and Machinist Mates-a group of guys that are involved in almost every shipboard evolution. Main Stream RASE is responsible for the maintenance. repair, preservation and operation of all underway replenishment STREAM lStandard Tension Replen- ishment Alongside Methodl related gear. This includes the winch deck, the supporting M frames and all its hangers, fairleads, lights, probes, hoses and hose rigging, span wires, highline, ram tensioners. and all the Winches. An enormous amount of equipment and a tremendous amount of responsibility. This is the main battery of SEATTLE, a big job but it still isn't all we do. RASE division is also involved with the cargo doors and cargo elevators serv- ing the weapons and cargo holds. They also work on the boats and their respective davits and the two accommodation ladders. The boat and helo crane is included in the package, and let's not forget two live ton cargo booms and the hold five package conveyer RASE division is the driving force that makes the SEATTLE the number one East coast Combat l ' 10glS- tics Support Ship.
