Watson .0 Sailors onboard SEATTLE have many jobs to do. Each division is responsible for maintaining their spaces and work centers, including Third Division. One of the most important jobs for Third Division is the preservation and painting of the sides of the ship. The sides are important because they are the first thing any ship sees when pulling alongside, and lasts for- ever. T he Palm Locker contains supplies that are issued to other divisions for preservation and upkeep of their SPQCFS' The Grease Locker contains various lubricantS Whlch are instrumental to the PMS of mechanical equipment' The Forward Bos'n locker is essential for the issuing tools and foul weather gear. The Canvas 511019 lsal Lockerl does the tailoring of uniforms, quaffefdfick awnings and many other fabrics used in the protect10U of equipment from foul weather. B Storeroom is fe' sponsible for issuing of cleaning gear to entire ship- The First Lieutenant's Storeroom is essential for underway replenishment. It contains all the fittings and must have items for underway replenishments that are needed fo keep all thirteen rigs flying smoothly. Second Division is anything but second. Within our group of seafaring personnel is an intri- cate structure of well trained Boatswain s Mates and dedicated seaman who are bonded together and continually lead the pack in quality performance. The work of Second Division is very demanding It entails being responsible for the operation and maintenance of SEATTLE s six boats and onloading and off-loading fleet freight by using the ships boat and aircraft crane. Second Division Personnel also have an active role during flight quarters Whether it s performing the duties as the LSE or loading and off-loading the helicopter. Second Division personnel play an instrumen- tal role during man overboard drills by manning the ready lifeboats when doing small boat recoveries.
