English ' MRS. IVIARCELLA HAYEN teaches American Govern- ment and German I and II. She is a sponsor of Nike and helps every month with the decorating of the bulletin boards on first floor. She al- ways has a new and differ- ent idea Which helps to make the bulletin boards attractive. MISS ALICE CARTER is a sponsor of National Honor Society and the Ushers. She teaches Eighth Grade Engish and Latin I and III. Her Latin students learn to read Ro- man myths in Latin and how to coniugate verbs. MRS. KATY HAWKINS teaches Dramatics and Speech for the Junior Class. She is head sponsor of Thes- pians and sponsors Student Council. She has directed the operettas and the plays, helping the students to put on a better performance. MR. LAWRENCE ALVAREZ is usually seen sitting on his desk discussing a Spanish story or the cases of a noun or a pronoun. He teaches Spanish I and Ill and is a sponsor of the Junior Class. MR. JAMES SAUCERMAN teaches French I and III and iunior English. He can be found sitting on his desk and smiling as he speaks some French to his class or tells them what kind of verse to look for in the next poem that they will read in their literature books. and Foreign W f. MRS. ESTHER HAMON teaches senior English and Eighth Grade English and is an Eighth Grade sponsor. She covers English literature and gram- mar in her classes. Her duties as Scotts Bluff County chairman of Dem- ocratic Women keep her busy out- side of school. MR. RAY FRAKES prepares his sen- iors for college by having them learn the correct Way to write a theme, study works of Shakespeare, learn the spelling and meanings ot new vocabulary Words and study all rules for good grammar. He is head sponsor of the Junior Class. MISS PHYLLIS SHAUL teaches Eng- lish in grades nine and ten and is a sponsor of Teen Queens. Her stu- dents learn the correct rules of punctuation, capitalization and word usage that are essential for good English. Her tenth grade English classes study grammar and literature. She sponsors the Ushers. 1 .1 , -4 4 ffl 1-3. MISS D'ELLA EGGLESTON teaches ninth grade English. She emphasizes the importance of spelling and vocab- ulary. Her classes spend one day visiting the public library learning how to use the card catalogue and how to find books and magazines. She is head sponsor of the Freshman Class. MRS. LOIS OLSSON is the president of the American Association of Uni- versity Women which keeps her busy besides teaching her morning classes of eighth and ninth grade English. She is one of the Teen Queens spon- sors.
