Encouraged by the success of Honest Abe , this year's Speech Class will present Allan Langdon Martin's great play, Smilin' Through , one of the most suc- cessful plays ever seen on the legitimate stage. As this page goes to press, re- hearsals are on, and plans are being rnade to present the play on two evenings, March 15 and 16. Principal roles are by: Virginia Pfouts, Nancy Albaugh, Marion Blakey, William Onslow, James Prather, William Spiker and Jerry Thompson. Other members of the cast: Marylouise Brown, Joan McKissick, Alice Thomas and Wilbur Hilbert, with some minor roles yet to be filled. Robert Van Gilder is Stage Manager l Norman Hibinger, his assistant. Alice Thomas is chairrnan of the Poster Committee, and the set is being built by the Industrial Arts department. A Z I 5 1 . -.J On Friday night, March 24, 1950, the Scio High -School Speech Class presented a three-act play, Honest Abe , by Charles George, as the climax to its unit in acting and play production. Honest Abe was a definite departure in play production, but audience response was warm and gratifying to cast and director. Bob Hugh was a most convincing young Abe Lincoln, and other members of the cast were: Floyd Bonnell, Dick Reese, Carl Scott, Gordon Bower, Bill Greer, Merle Foutz, Joyce Snyder, Tressa Garrett, Loretta Jacobs, Betty Robinson, Nancy Cope, Lena Albaugh, and Betty Perkins.
