JUNIOR CLASS HISTORY About 70 pupils returned to Scienceville High School on September 3rd. 1940, to take up the all-important duties as Juniors of this school. During the third week of school these Juniors. from the homerooms of Mr. McConnell and Mr. Ehrmann, met and elected officers for the year. The results were. President Albert lezzeo Vice President Edward Brienz Secretary Ruth Stewart Treasurer Irene Uhrin The first social function of the year given by the juninrs was a roller- skating party at Raycnwood Auditorium on December 9th. The class sold Christmas cards during October and November and also sold refreshments at the home football and basketball games. A Class play will be given April 25th. The social program of the year will end with the annual Junior-Senior From on June 6th at the Nu-Elms. Class President ...... Irene Scmchee The January Class of 1943 has 30 members remaining at the end of their fifth semester. The activities were limited to a doughnut sale. a picnic, and the Junior Senior Prom. SOPHOMORE CLASS HISTORY The sophomores, the June Class of 1943, started,out in September with ninety students under the direction of Mrs. Pond, Miss Johnson, and Mr. Benninger; but because of withdrawals. Mr. Benninger's group was divided between the other two home rooms at the beginning of the second semester. William Rooney is our capable president with George Braidieh as viee-president. Clara Szoke is our secretary, while Betty Mary Owens keeps the money, and Glorla Lud- lum is social chairman. We had a Christmas party at which Chow Mein was served and gifts exchanged. Eddie Garman was our best salesman in selling doughnuts recently to obtain money for our fees for the annual. Fifteen sophomore girls are Girl Reserves. with Betty Mary Owens Devotional Chair- man. Theresa Fechtel and Marie Tueeio are in the first aid group. Two girls are in the G.A.A. and two boys in the Hi-Y. Twenty-four girls are in the glee club and ehoili Edna DomhoH, William Rooney. and Johnnie Lawhorn are outstanding in music. Johnnie takes part in all the musical organizations. Gloria Ludlum is a drum majorette. Four out of ten of the varsity basketball boys were from our classeJimmy Cipriano. Sonny Lupe, Jack Kemper. and Sam Cicchillo. Other sophomore players were George Hodder. Earl Hoagland, and Eddie Garman. We are proud of Jimmy Cipriano who helped win many games. He was chosen as a member of the all-city basketball team and had his picture in the Cleveland Plain Dealer. In the American Legion Essay Contest. Anne Planey and Clarence Shaffer won first place among the other tenth grade contestants in the city. We've enjoyed our sophomore year together and now we are looking forward to the new duties Wthh will be ours as JulllOI'S. MARION SPEERBRECHER Forty-sevcn
