.Qs Zn iwltmuriam DORIS JEAN OAKLEY To know, to esteem, to love, and then to part Maker up lifeff tale to many a feeling heart. Born August 5, 1938, Doris attended grade school in the East Ward Building with many members of the present Senior Class. Later in high school. she was known as a willing and industrious worker and a friend to all. She was active in clubs. a junior cheerleader, and a member of the Junior National Honor Society. As a member of the Grace Evangelical Church, she was a faithful member of the choir, and a regular attend- ant at services Sunday morning. Suddenly one day word reached us of her illness: our pray- ers were with her. Then, one day, school bells stopped ringing for her, and the Heavenly bells tolled forth. As we go forward to our graduation and thence throughout life, Doris will hold a prominent place in our thoughts and heartsf-her passing seemed like the ceasing of exquisite music. 29 There seems a shadow on the day, Her smile no longer cheers: A dimness on the stars of night, like eyes that look through tears. Alone unto our Father's will One thought hath reconciledg That He whose love exceedeth ours Hath token home his child. Fold her, 0 Father, in Thine arms, And let her hencelorth be A messenger ol love between Our human hearts ond Thee. - Whittier

CLASS POEM Open thy doors, Dear Haven High, Let youth go forth its skill to try We must depart, our duty calls, We cannot linger in thy halls. Into the world we now must go, Our worth and courage there to show, We try to serve, to do our best, And in thy name our hope shall rest. The future stretches, clear and bright, What on its pages shall we write? We do not know, we hope ,twill be A joy and pride evermore to thee. Our colors are blue and silver, May they always float on high, For strength and beauty to the world They must ever signify. - JUDITH SHOENER CLASS SONG WEN fTune of He',j We, of 56', will soon leave Haven's halls. Welll continue on as now the future calls. We have thoughts in mind to which we all will cling. l'Ve can soon look back, and oh, what joy they'll bring. Though backward we may look on times we held so dear, We all realize that our commencementls near. Looking to the past, we'll often breathe a sigh, And say, God Bless You, Haven Highf' We can face the years without a trace of fears. We can look ahead as graduation nears. We have peace of mind, as now our goal is nigh. We'll soon graduate from dear old Haven High. Onward ever on to better things we'll fly. For our Alma Mater we will always try. Tho, memories so dear will sometimes make us cry, We'll always love you Haven High. We'll always love you Haven High. - PHYLLIS RowcoTsKY Class Motto: Enter to Learn, Go Forth to Serve Class Flower: Red Rose Class Colors: Blue and Silver 30
