lNl'lXl2D C1-ronrfs - The high school is justly proud of this representative group of picked voices. The Christmas program and other special assemblies are built around the sing- ing of this group. Many of its members are chosen for the All State Music Festival. The results of Miss Davison's untiring instruc- tion plus the diligent practicing of these songsters are shown at the May concert which is always popular and well attended by the community. BOYS' Guan CLUB-This year, as every year, perhaps you have heard the clear mel- lowness of familiar music, echoing through the halls of Sayville High School. These were the energetic voices of our potential Pinzas, who were learning to cultivate their voices. They had several public appearances to their credit this year. ALL-STATE FEsT1VAL-Sayville was repre- sented in all three of the music groups in the All-State Music Festival at Bay Shore. The Festival lasted two days, during which three three-hour practices, a dance, and a concert were held. The concert was pre- sented in the Bay Shore High School audi- torium on Saturday, November 5, at 8:15. Those who were fortunate enough to take part in this rewarding project, enjoyed it very much, it truly was an unforgettable pleasure.

TwIRL12Rs -Much of the precision of our band on the field depends on the ability and appearance of our Sayville High School Twirlers. Their snappy uni- forms and tricky baton handling have been one of the highlights of our bands participation at football games and parades. Many of the twirlers are Sayville products, in training since grammar school days. SENIOR BANuiPride of the Purple and Gold, which the members wear with such distinction, is the Senior Band. Thanks to fair weather, they marched snappily in the Armistice and Memorial Day pa- rades and thrilled the football crowds with their performances on the Held. Under the direction of Mr. Van Schaick, they gave the usual fine concerts for the townsfolk. The winter concert is most popular and the Twilight Concert, given on the steps of the school in june, is a delightful event looked forward to by the community. At this time Mr Van , as he is fondly called by his pupils, re- views the records of the graduating members and bids them farewell. Practice makes perfect is an old adage, but in this case its truth is borne out by the fact that these students give their instruments a workout twice a week besides putting in long hours of rehearsals before public programs. Their enthu- siasm is contagious, and although we hate tp brag, a finer looking high school band is hard to find.
