FLASS HISTORY In the fall of 1947 twenty Sophomores entered C. H. S. VVe have all enjoyed our first two years here at Saybrook, and hope the next two will be the same. VVe had three new members to join us this year. Flossie Brown and Earl Arnold at the beginning of the first term and Phillip Hawthorne the second semester. Myron Evans. Earl Arnold, Darwin Zachay. Eugene Roth, and Jerrell Roberts all went out for basketball. Myron. Eugene. Darwin and Jerrell made the second team. The others made faithful subs. Good going boys! The time you Ire seniors you will really be hot. lWe Hopei. The officers of this year's class are President. Eugene Rothg Vice-President, Flos- sie Brown, Secretary, Delmarie Smithg Treasurer, Jerrell Roberts, and for the Student Council, Bob Johnson, one year: Dixie Crotinger, first semester: and Louis Siems, the second semester. We had Miss Mcflorkle as our class advisor. SVe are all looking forward to next year. when we will be upper classmen.

Mr. Anderson having black, straight hair. Loren Sears getting A in History. Louis Sienis not arguing with the teachers. F. F. A. boys not griping about the F. H. A. girls. Harold Erwin being 5 ft., 8 in. tall. Mrs. Raab a cheerleader. Mary L. and Don S. on speaking terms. Doris being Dwane's mother in the senior play. Donna having black hair. Bobby Bradd being the ladies' man. Lorraine being a model. Eldon Stauffer with a handle-bar mustache. Phillip Smallwood being an auctioneer. The boys of S. C. H. S. with neatly combed hair. Saybrook Community High School having an enrollment of 100. Qemember lzmz Floyd made 50 words per minute in typing. Mr. Keyser pushing the typing II class through the door. Bobby Bradd threw kisses to the girls. Charlie twisted Barb's arm. Helen received her diamond from Glen. The girls flirted with the pop man. There were seven Lorraineis in school. Flossie Brown and Dick Evans wrote notes to each other. Bud got kicked off the basketball teamiismoking. Miss McCorkle became engaged. Marilyn, Helen, and Marjorie Grant went to the Gibson Community sale Roberta Steed and Jack had their first date. We beat Anchor four times. Miss Harper spilled water in the assembly. Dwane got his lip cut. Somebody took one of Bud's love letters from Jean. Junior's received their class rings. Mr. Short lost his temper in history class. Mary Leah set on the floor in General Business. Phil Hawthorne spilled his soup. Dick threw an eraser at Chuck. Gordon got kicked out of American History. When the boys mis-understood Mr. Anderson--iabout pants. Senior pictures were taken. Senior trip --1-- to Chicago. Elaine beat up on Jim. F. H. A. hayride and had a flat tire. Bellflower boys entered S. C. H. S. Everybody Wanting ways to go to the basketball games. Milford was kicked out of Ag. class. Seniors getting the addresses of the Alumni. Mary Lou became an Indian. '

' Second Row Left to Right: Dick Myers, Davy Clark, Bob List, Clifford Andere son, Bob Bradd, Bill Coit. fAbsent: Gary Garrett, Wilicliell Hall, Delmar Kirk- patrick, Henry Ramsey, Phillip Robbins! CLASS HISTORY Wlieii we enrolled as Freshmen in the fall of 1947 our class had seventeen members. Twelve of this group were students from the Saybrook Public Grade School, and the five new members who joined the class came from various country schools in this community. Vile lost one member during the first semester when Blanche Hart transferred to Lexington High School. Our class officers are, Phillip Robbins, President, Henry Ramsey, Vice-P1'esi- dent, Dick Myers, Secretaryg and Roberta Steed. Treasurer. Delmar Kirkpatrick was elected to the Student Council for the year, and Vvinchell Hall for the first semester. with Nelda Stauffer succeeding him the second semester. Mr. Short was our class ad- visor. In basketball the Freshman class was represented by Dick Myers, Davy Clark, G-ary Garrett, and Delmar Kirkpatrick. Roberta Steed was elected as one of the three S. C. H. S. cheerleaders. All of the Freshmen girls and several of the boys have taken an active part in music, participating in a number of programs this year. There have been so many school activities that we have not had time for any Freshmen parties. However, we have enjoyed several All-School parties, even the one at which the Freshmen were initiated last fall.
