Vice Principal Telephone 233-4000 To the Members of the Class of 1964: Because of the work involved in planning the layout of the Tontoquonian, the editors have asked me to write in October the message which you will be reading in June. This is no small task, since it presupposes a foreknowledge of what lies ahead for you as a senior class. The tragic fire in the Junior High School is already an actuality, however, and I am sure that in June you will recall a year, or at least several months, of inconvenience and annoyance. But, as seniors, you will have furnished to the underclassmen an example in readjusting your school life by sharing your rooms, your lockers, your desks, your extra-curricular time, your school. I have no doubt that although your senior year will be sub- ject to disappointments, you will have made the best of existing conditions. Your spirit of cooperation in time of adversity will augur well for the future. Here you will have learned more than subj ect matter, important as that may be. As you read this, you are jubilant that it is graduation time. The Class of 1964 is a great storehouse of ability, resourcefulness, and talent -- and strength of character. I am confident that beyond these walls you will meet the challenges that await you, and you will succeed.
