Man is today poised on the threshold of exploring new worlds. It is, indeed, a challenge that you and the millions of other youth across the nation face in keeping the peace of this old world, and at the same time reach- ing out toward the planets of the solar system and beyond. Though the dangers are frightening and the wonders of the world to be explored are challenging, there is opportunity for you that few generations have ever enjoyed. Victory in the cold war and the leadership of the United States in the conquest of space depend much upon the sense of responsibility, individually and col- lectively, that you the leaders of tomorrow assume.
