A virtual potpourri oftopics was included from sports activities to original poetry. Probing editorials and a special section of Letters to the Editor questioned school policies and criticized student attitudes. On issues that couldn't be solved by individuals alone, the Blueslozic staff sought to bring these problems to the attention ol' the entire student body. 27

The innovation of party conventions in September launched the Senior Student Council into an active year and revived fading interest in this body of government. Homerooms became states and assumed the names of their teachers, while the student body was divided into a Blue party and a White party. Delegates were sent to an initial meeting, where a chairman and a secretary for each party were chosen, and platforms were decided on. Genuine excitement prevailed at the party nominations for officers. Then followed rousing campaigns, debates, and, finally, the voting in a booth. For the first time, enough enthusiasm was generated to put a write-in candidate in ofiice. During the year, the main issue concerning student council was liberalization of the dress code. Other projects included collecting money for the people in Biafra, trying to establish a year-round student lounge, and the idea ofinstalling a coke machine and a juke box in the cafeteria.
