Some of this year’s travelers ventured to Neustiff, Austria in February. Our adventuresome seniors spent ten days at the snowy mountain tops, speeding down icy slopes. They also took a Bavarian Castles Tour and side trips to Saltzburg, Austria and to the small medieval town of Sterzing, Italy. The chaperones for the trip were Ms. Mary Atchison and Mrs. Bonnie Hillman. Other travelers ventured to Washington, D.C. with Close-Up. During their week’s stay, they met with Alabama’s Senators and Representatives, spent time on Capitol Hill, and attended a Broadway show. One of the best parts of their week was meeting and mixing with teenagers from other parts of the United States. Sherrie Walker, Kristi Crenshaw, and David Blass. This year’s play “David and Lisa” put on by the drama club took place in a typical American high school. The play was about a mentally disturbed boy and a young girl with a split personality. The story line follows them in their days at the high school. It depicts their problems and progress while under psychiatric care. The play was well put together. The drama club worked extremely hard to have the play go off as a blast. They received a well-earned round of applause at the end of their performance. 26 Activities

The Gong Show was put on by Satsuma High School’s faculty and staff. Our teachers displayed their idiocy” to humor the students, and to help raise money to send our softball team to the state play-offs. First place went to Ms. Floyd, Ms. S. Williams, Mrs. M. Bell, and Mrs. Tolbert for their lip-sync version of Janet Jackson's “Control,” while Coach Miller won Ms. Atchison's heart with his rendition of “You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling.” 28 Gong Show
