The night of December 6th finally arriv- ed, and as each contestant made her walk on stage, tension mounted. A hush came over the crowd while they anx- iously awaited the announcement of the new Miss Satsuma and her court which were chosen on the basis of beauty, poise, intelligence, and an interview. The judges' final decision was handed down and Jeannie Lewis was named Miss Satsuma of 1984-85. Debra Han- cock was chosen First Runner-up and Renee Brunson Second Runner-up. Miss Congeniality and Miss Photogentic were Pam Stokley and Andrea Atchison respectively. Junior Beauty was Mary Brett, Sopnomore Beauty was Belle Whatley, and Freshman Beauty was Laura Lomax. Decorations were provided by Mrs. Lin- da Singleton with assistance from the Art Department and Mrs. Reita Wilson. The pageant was sponsored by the 1985 Senior Class and co-ordinated by Ms. Mary Atchison. Seniors that Oughta Be in Pictures” directed by Jim McDonald. 26 Miss Satsuma

Students Skim for Occupations The purpose of Career Day was to let students get an idea of what type of profes- sion they might want to go into. It was held in the library during second and third period for juniors and seniors only. There were various types of career opportunities presented such as banks, colleges. Na- tional Guard and Reserve, and military services. Satsuma High School is one of the few schools in Mobile that has Career Day for the students.
